KPulse Speak — Beta Tester Agreement

Thanks for testing KPulse Speak. This is the plain-English agreement between you and the developer for the duration of the beta. By joining, you're agreeing to it.

1. This is unfinished software

KPulse Speak is in alpha/beta testing. It is not a finished product. Expect:

  • Bugs, crashes, and features that don't behave as described
  • Slow or failed responses from Hani
  • Lessons, rewards, or scores that occasionally calculate wrongly
  • Downtime while the server is updated
  • Progress being reset — your XP, streak, level, or unlocks may be wiped by an update, or the whole database may be reset before launch

Please don't treat your beta progress as permanent. We'll try to preserve it, but we can't promise it.

2. No guarantees

The app is provided "as is", free of charge, with no warranty of any kind. Features may change, be removed, or stop working. The service may be unavailable without notice. The beta may end at any time.

To the maximum extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app — including lost progress, lost time, or missed learning.

3. Hani is an AI, and Hani gets things wrong

Hani is an artificial intelligence, not a human teacher, and not a certified language instructor.

  • Her Korean explanations, corrections, translations, and pronunciation feedback may be wrong.
  • Her scoring of your speaking may mark a correct answer wrong, or a wrong answer correct.
  • She may occasionally say something odd, irrelevant, or inaccurate.
  • Nothing she says is professional, medical, legal, financial, or educational advice. Don't rely on it for anything that matters.

If something she says looks wrong, it may well be. Please report it — that's exactly what testing is for.

4. Your voice, your photos

  • Speaking practice sends your voice recording to our server and to Google's speech recognition service. It is processed and discarded — not stored.
  • Talking with Hani is not recorded and not transcribed to storage. Only the call length and a couple of short facts Hani remembers are kept.
  • Photos you scan for Live Roleplay are sent to Google's AI and not stored — only the script it generates is kept.

Full detail is in the Privacy Policy. By taking part, you consent to this processing.

Please don't scan photos containing other people's private messages, personal details, or anything confidential, and don't share sensitive personal information with Hani.

5. Your feedback

Anything you send — bug reports, suggestions, complaints, survey answers, screenshots — may be used to improve the app, freely and without payment, credit, or obligation to you. If you suggest a feature and it gets built, you don't own it and aren't owed anything for it.

Please do send honest, blunt feedback. That's the entire point of the programme.

6. What we ask of you

  • Use the app roughly as intended and report what breaks
  • Don't share the beta build, download link, or install file with anyone outside the programme
  • Don't try to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the app's content, prompts, or lesson data
  • Don't attempt to break, overload, or abuse the servers, or bypass the free-tier limits
  • Don't publicly post screenshots, videos, or reviews of the beta without asking first — it's unfinished and first impressions stick
  • Don't upload or say anything illegal, hateful, or abusive

We may remove you from the programme at any time, for any reason.

7. Confidentiality (light touch)

Unreleased features, screens, and content you see in the beta are not public yet. Please keep them between us until launch. Talking about the app in general terms — "my friend's building a Korean app" — is completely fine.

8. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to take part.

9. Ownership

The app, its name, its lessons, Hani, the artwork, the code, and the content all belong to the developer. Testing it doesn't transfer any of that to you. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app during the beta, and nothing more.

10. Cost

Taking part in the beta is free. No payment is ever required to test, and we will never ask you for card details directly. If anyone asks you to pay for the beta, it isn't us.

The app may offer an optional Premium subscription while you are testing. You never have to buy it to take part. If you do, Google Play takes the payment — not us — and the Terms of Service cover how it renews and how to cancel.

11. Leaving

You can leave at any time, for any reason, with no explanation needed. To erase your account and everything in it: Profile → Settings → Delete account. It's immediate, permanent, and needs nothing from us.
